“I am so excited because we’re going to be the first elementary school to have our art in public, if it’s possible, if you can, it’s important to put our art in public because it can show peace, love, and respect. Sincerely, T.J, 4th Grade “It is important for the community to recognize elementary students’ work. We work hard to plan. We are very enthusiastic about this. We need your approval because we really want to inspire others and maybe others will inspire others. We are bright students and we can do it!” Sincerely, Angelly, 5th Grade

Lindsey Millikan
Lindsey Millikan is a San Francisco based artist with a focus on painting in the style of contemporary realism. Currently she is working as a freelance artist for Prairie Prince Studios and Attitudinal Healing Connection as well as manages a custom framing business, Photograph and Frame, in San Francisco. Her undergraduate studies began at University of Missouri-St. Louis and were completed at Texas State University-San Marcos with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2008. Lindsey completed her graduate studies with a Master of Fine Arts degree from the Academy of Art University in 2012. Her current body of work focuses on the power of water as healer and the ocean as a communicator of emotional truths. In the recent past, Lindsey has been in a number of group shows, worked on murals for the nonprofit and private sector throughout the Bay Area, had a solo show in Oakland at East Bay MUD Headquarters, three times been an exhibiting artist at Kaaboo Art and Music Festival, painted private commissions, curated multiple group shows for subLEVEL Art, as well as worked on large-scale set design for Bette Midler’s national tour and Shania Twain’s Caesar Palace show in addition to being featured in Social Lifestyle Magazine. After working on the community driven non-violence mural series for five years, Lindsey is poised to be the lead artist on the next 4,000 sq ft mural in honor of her fellow muralist, Antonio Ramos, who was slain while painting next to her this past September. This traumatizing act of violence and completion of the wall in the aftermath, has tested and reinforced the artist’s passion of the importance of art to transform and inform public spaces.
